The Notes to Myself exhibitions explore the relationship with forest, trees and wood. The installation emphasizes the emotional capacity of a material with its physical qualities.

The starting point of the installation is a material study with Finnish pinewood and experiments with wood’s own quality, capillary effect in dye. In this process color is sucked inside of the material before it is processed further. This places the artist in the service of the material while the final outcome is determined by wood herself, leading into unexpected, non-repeatable and visually expressive results that are inspiring. The process upgrades the material into a higher status, where the material can say what she wanted and needed. These big, colorful logs are loud and messy and form a material starting point for totemic-like pieces displayed at the exhibition.
