RE-COVER 2019

Re-cover consists of a series of mouth-blown glass sculptures that are collages made from multiple elements placed within or hanging from one another. Each sculpture consists of an element that serves as a socket or a pod to other elements attached to it.
Contrary to the conventional glass design, the joints are purely mechanical with a strong visual identity. The aim is to join sensitive and fragile material – glass – using standard hardware store items. The glass elements are hand blown with traditional methods, whereas the joints are made of threaded brass rods, bolts and rubber washers.

The sculptures are materialized thoughts of endurance and they represent moments of closeness, togetherness, balance and intimacy.
Serie features 10 unique works from 2019-2020. Presented at Lokal+ gallery Helsinki & Collectible fair, Bryssels. Materials: mouth blown glass, brass, rubber.
Glass blowing & coldwork: Manuel Diemer & Alge Julija, Nuutajärvi glass village
Project was funded by Finnish Cultural Foundation
